The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has announced the official opening of the Merville Fire Hall. The CVRD has been working since 2017 to help make the new hall a reality.
Electoral Area C Director Edwin Grieve says the facility, centrally located in Merville, will provide improved life-safety for residents, possible reduction in fire premiums for some residents and the ability to deliver a medical first responder program.
This new hall, being managed by Oyster River Fire Rescue, will offer services to about 2,800 residents and is designed to post disaster construction requirements ensuring effective fire protection for many years to come.
Electoral Area B Director Arzeena Hamir says seeing the project from conception to completion is an exciting accomplishment, adding she thanks Oyster River Fire Rescue and its 25 volunteers for their continued support and work.
