The Comox Valley Regional District is adjusting its use of social media and launching a new e-newsletter to better align with its values and encourage respectful and responsible communication.
CVRD Board Chair Will Cole-Hamilton says certain social media platforms have become outlets for misinformation and disrespectful commentary, so they are moving in another direction.
The District will stop using paid advertising and restrict comments on Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram.
It is also closing down the CVRD X (formerly Twitter) account and launching an account on the BlueSky platform.
Staff are also creating a new online CVRD e-newsletter where residents can sign up and get “accurate/up to date information affecting the community and increase knowledge around the projects and services taxpayers are receiving.
To learn more and to sign up for the free monthly e-newsletter, visit Comox Valley RD.
