The Comox Valley Regional District has acquired new parklands within Electoral Area C.
The CVRD received a 4.51 acre land donation, located adjacent to Maris Nature Park, from Resolute North Holdings Ltd. through the federal Ecological Gifts Program.
It also acquired two parcels with a combined area of 115.86 acres next to Spike Road Park, significantly increasing its size and further improving its ecological value.
Parks Manager Mark Harrison says it is important to note that both parks will remain inactive and not open to the public until their respective park management plans have been completed and the appropriate visitor infrastructure is in place.
Residents are being asked not to enter the parks at this time - official announcements regarding public engagement and park openings will be announced once management plans have begun.
