The Comox Valley Emergency Program (CVEP) has launched the Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program - a regional program involving the Comox Valley Regional District, City of Courtenay, K’omoks First Nation, Town of Comox, and the Village of Cumberland.
It’s designed to provide important tools, recommendations, and guidance to ensure Comox Valley residents are prepared for an emergency or disaster.
Emergency Programs Manager Howie Siemens say the official launch of NEPP is an important step towards building a disaster-resilient Comox Valley that “supports neighbours helping neighbours to prepare for and assist one another during extreme weather and other hazardous events.”
The CVRD is holding free NEPP information sessions at local fire halls.
To register, or to learn more about the program, visit Comox Valley Regional District.
NEPP has also contributed towards growing regional collaboration for FireSmart, Emergency Support Services, Emergency Radio Communications, and household-level emergency preparedness, in partnership with the Comox Valley Accessibility Centre, the Hornby Island Emergency Preparedness Committee, and Habitat for Humanity North Island, among others.
