Time is winding down to get your name on the list to help plant 125 trees in the Village of Cumberland.
The Forest in the Village is a Cumberland Community Forest Society-led pilot project to help build understanding in the value of the urban forest canopy for biodiversity and climate resilience.
The society’s goal is to increase canopy cover in urban areas from 20% to 30% by 2040.
To commemorate Cumberland’s 125th anniversary, the society has a goal of planting 125 trees - – a legacy project of stewardship and climate resilience. 50% of tree costs are being subsidized.
Community Wide Planting Day is set for Sunday, October 15th with all tree orders available for pick-up that morning.
