BC Wildfire Service is responding to another wildfire burning near Sayward.
The fire, about 5km southeast of Sayward, east of Ryan’s Road, was discovered shortly before 5pm yesterday. It’s about 1 hectare in size - and it was human caused.
A couple of crews were on site yesterday, assisted by a pair of helicopters.
The fire is highly visible from the community of Sayward, however, there are no structures threatened at this time.
Meanwhile, the Newcastle Creek Fire, west of Sayward, also continues to burn - about 230 hectares in size as of the last update over the weekend.
But it is listed as being held. It was first sparked on June 6th.
Things were tense in Kelowna when wildfire forced the evacuation of about 400 homes on Canada Day. Residents have since been able to return to their homes.
