A strike by thousands of federal public employees is now over - but bargaining continues for Canada Revenue Agency employees, on this tax deadline day.
“Over the weekend, we have made some progress on our wage demands and job security,” said Patrick Bragg, political communications officer for PSAC B.C., in an emailed statement.
“We know that PSAC members want to get back to work and deliver the services Canadians depend on, but we also know that workers can’t keep falling behind. That’s why we’ll stay at the table until we get the fair contract our members deserve.”
Negotiators gave word late last night that a deal had been reached for 120-thousand members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada - and they are returning to work today.
The strike began on April 19th.
Negotiations continue for some 35-thousand workers with CRA.
Midnight Monday night is the deadline for Canadians to file their 2022 taxes without facing a penalty if they owe.
