Local fairs, festivals and other events are getting a boost in funding to help them operate through 2024.
In the North Island, seven events are receiving a total of $61,300 including $11,700 each for CR Live Streets and for SalmonFest 2023.
More than $20,000 is going to the North Island Professional Contemporary Dance Series.
In Courtenay-Comox, eleven events are receiving a total of $250,900 including $134,000 for the Vancouver Island MusicFest.
The investment into local events is part of the $30 million in one-time grants the province pledged for Fairs, Festivals, and Events to continue the recovery of a strong tourism industry.
The funding provides one-time grants for events to safely return after facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
