The City of Courtenay is moving forward with upgrades to Cousins Avenue between Willemar Avenue and 20th Street, with detailed design now underway.
Residents are invited to learn more about the project and share feedback at a pop-up information session at Cousins Park on June 16, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“The Cousins Avenue upgrades are an important investment in maintaining and improving essential infrastructure for our community,” said Chris Davidson, Director of Infrastructure and Environmental Engineering at the City of Courtenay.
“This project will enhance the roadway and replace aging underground services to support current needs and future growth.”
The project includes full road reconstruction, as well as upgrades to sidewalks, curbing, landscaping and trail connections.
Many of the underground utilities in this area were installed decades ago and have reached the end of their service life, making this work both timely and necessary.
As the project moves into detailed design in 2026, the drop-in session will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more, ask questions and speak directly with the project team.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027.
