The City of Courtenay has picked up a pair of awards for its Public Works Week celebrations earlier this year.
Courtenay was recognized by both the Canadian Public Works Association and the Public Works Association of BC for engaging residents with events and activities during National Public Works Week in May.
The announcement came last week at the provincial conference in Whistler, where Courtenay was honoured in the category for communities between 25 and 100 thousand people.
Events included school tours, student art projects, equipment demos, and a public open house showcasing the work of the city’s Operational Services team.
Mayor Bob Wells says the award highlights the dedication of city staff who keep Courtenay’s infrastructure running every day.
The city is already looking ahead to next year’s Public Works Week, happening May 17th to 23rd, 2026.
