The City of Courtenay is hosting its third annual community clean-up event on Saturday, April 26.
Community volunteers will meet at the Courtenay Air Park - adjacent to the Rotary Sky Park Playground - starting at 10am for a safety orientation.
City staff will distribute trash pickers/grabbers, bags, and gloves and volunteers will then pick up trash in the area around the park including nearby trails.
Mayor Bob Wells says the event started as a simple act of community spirit and has grown into an inspiring annual tradition and is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and be part of something bigger.
The goal is to keep garbage and debris from getting washed into storm drains, creeks, and waterways.
Volunteers will be out until 2pm cleaning up tomorrow.
Pre-registering is encouraged to streamline the process.
