The electric vehicle charging station at Courtenay City Hall (north parking lot near main entrance) will be unavailable through the weekend.

It’s in need of a little work and will be out of service until Monday.

Changes are also coming to the EV chargers in Courtenay.

Starting Monday, April 3, electric vehicle charging station fees in downtown Courtenay, the Lewis Centre, and City Hall will be set at $3/hour.

With this change, charging station access will expand from the current 7 a.m.- 9 p.m., and will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The new fees were approved by Council earlier this month, and will cover the costs of operating the chargers, including electricity and eventual replacement.

The City says that means that in the future, when these charging stations reach the end of their useful life, there will be funds set aside to replace them.
