The City of Courtenay has unveiled details of its Canada Day celebrations, both June 30th and July 1sts.

Free, family-friendly events are happening both days in Downtown Courtenay and Lewis Park.

The festivities begin with the Night Before concert at Lewis Park on Monday, June 30th, running from 4:15 to around 10 p.m.

The evening kicks off with Indigenous and multicultural performances.

On Canada Day, the day starts in Downtown Courtenay with the 5th Street Mile at 9:30 a.m., a fun run organized by the Comox Valley Road Runners.

The Canada Day parade follows at 10 a.m. down 5th Street, featuring floats, music and community groups.

Celebrations will continue at Lewis Park from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with activities for all ages, including a kids’ zone, food trucks, vendors, activity booths, welcoming ceremonies and cake.

The popular children’s bike draw for ages 5 to 12 also returns, with tickets available at the special events tent beside the Lewis Park stage.

Other Canada Day activities include a free swim at the Courtenay Outdoor Pool, an open house at the Courtenay and District Museum, and the Evergreen Club Tea Dance at the Native Sons Hall.
