Courtenay Assault

Major Crime Unit investigators are seeking witnesses after an assault that occurred Sunday in Courtenay.

The victim reported that she was walking along the 1300-block of Cliffe Ave.,

in Courtenay around 10:15pm Sunday, July 31st, when she walked past a man

sitting on some stairs.

She told investigators that after she passed, the man got up and grabbed her

from behind, touched her inappropriately and tried to drag her into some

bushes.

The suspect is described as a middle aged man with a pot belly and some

scruff on his face. He was wearing a black hat and khaki shorts that had

pockets.

Police are asking for witnesses to contact them - specifically, those who may

recognize the man's description or have dash cam footage of the area at the

time of the assault.
