The City of Courtenay is warning residents and visitors to be cautious after a cougar sighting in East Courtenay on Monday.

The animal was spotted in the area of Hurford Hill Park, Valley View Greenway, Hobson Park and Hawk Glenn Park.

Last week, the same reminder came from the Town of Comox after increased cougar sightings in the area.

The Town said that cougars had been reported in the Condor Park and Quarry Road area.

To report cougars in conflict, sightings in urban areas, or a cougar showing unusual or aggressive behaviour, you are asked to contact the Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.

Find more information about cougars at Government of British Columbia.
