Construction on a new Aquatic & Wellness Centre at Strathcona Gardens will be getting underway next month.
The Strathcona Regional District says after years of community and government support, they are excited to finally break ground for the ReCreate project.
The SRD has added a lot of info to their website to help residents through changes and adjustments needed as the new building takes shape.
Construction will last for 30 months.
Once the new pool is ready, the existing pool will be decommissioned to make room for the new wellness centre, which will include a large fitness area and wellness spaces.
The District says crews will do their best to avoid disruptions to facility programming and will provide as much notice as possible for any temporary closures.
In terms of parking, things will be limited as crews need space for equipment and materials.
A portion of the parking lot near Dogwood will be closed, including the parking lot entrance along Dogwood Street.
All vehicle access will be directed to the Pinecrest Road entrance, east of the Rod Brind ‘Amour Arena.
