There are some new additions to the line up at Comox Valley Schools.
They’ve named Joe Heslip as the new Associate Superintendent of Schools, and Lelaina Jules as Assistant Principal of Indigenous Education.
In a release, the district says Heslip brings a wealth of experience and passion for education, particularly in the areas of Indigenous education and educational leadership, that will be invaluable.
Previously, he served as Project Lead Field Liaison for the Ministry of Education and Child Care, where the district says he was instrumental in leading the Equity in Action Project across 60 school districts and five independent school associations.
Lelaina Jules, whose traditional name is ƛ̓akʷapiqa, will be joining Comox Valley Schools as the new District Vice Principal of Indigenous Education.
In her new role, Jules will lead initiatives to strengthen relationships between Comox Valley schools and Indigenous communities.
She will also work closely with staff to integrate Indigenous perspectives into educational practices.
