Comox Valley Search and Rescue called out to assist after a man fell about 150 feet into a wooded area near the Trent River this week.
The man suffered life threatening injuries in the incident.
Comox Valley RCMP got the 911 call Tuesday afternoon.
Several teams responded and the man was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.
“It’s steep terrain and difficult to access and all the banks are shale so it takes a fare bit to get down there safely,” said Paul Berry with Comox Valley Search and Rescue.
The Inland Island Highway was closed for a period while the rescue took place.
