The Comox Valley Regional District is set to receive the second phase of a report study on substance use in the Valley.

The Comox Valley Substance Use Strategy Committee has already delivered on recommendations from phase one, including teaming up with Walk With Me to hear of lived experiences with peers, and also shoring up $140-thousand dollars for funding for Phase 2.

The Committee is made up of a multi-sectoral group of local government representatives, peers, community members and organizations from across the region.

It works to examine power imbalances, uncover systemic biases, and create culturally safe spaces, part of the ongoing work to create and implement a regional substance use strategy.

Phase two of the report includes more than two dozen actions, including implementing a medical detox service in the Comox Valley.

The CVRD Board will receive the report tonight at its regular meeting.
