The Comox Valley Regional District has reactivated its beach fire program.

“After a few years of being apart, promoting togetherness in our natural areas is important,” explains Richard Hardy, CVRD Electoral Area B Director and Chair of the Electoral Area Service Committee.

“We hope residents enjoy this program being back in the community and have the chance to visit one of our beautiful parks.”

Beach fires are permitted at Goose Spit Park until September 4th within the ten designated fire rings located on the outer beach of the park.

There is a limited amount of dry firewood on site. The burning of driftwood or other materials is not permitted.

There are also designated fireplace structures for use by the public at Joe Walker Park and Royston Seaside Park.

All beach fires need to be fully extinguished by park closing at 11 pm; a bucket of water containing at least 10 liters must be kept beside the fire at all times.
