The Comox Valley Regional District is highlighting a watershed protection program designed to educate and inspire students in Comox Valley.
Spanning from grades two to 11 in Comox Valley Schools, educator tours provide shared knowledge about the watershed’s history and identify the interconnection of the natural system within the community.
Students are engaged in the classroom, on-site adjacent to the watershed, and through tours of the Water Treatment Plant.
The presentations serve to instill a deeper understanding of how all individuals play a role in safeguarding this vital natural resource.
The educators’ approach encourages active participation, ensuring that students not only absorb facts about drinking water, but also understand the importance of responsible watershed care.
The CVRD says it remains committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Comox Lake watershed and the communities it serves.
