Comox Valley RCMP has issued a warning about a fraud scam.
On July 15th, police say someone identifying themselves as Amazon customer support called a victim who was directed to download and install an app which was used to purchase Crypto Currency.
Comox Valley RCMP are reminding residents to be vigilant when receiving unsolicited phone calls and take a moment to confirm who is calling before providing any personal information.
Additionally, residents should be wary of installing any unknown apps on their computers since they could allow for unfettered access to their personal and financial information.
Similar frauds have been reported with individuals identifying themselves as representatives from various other legitimate companies.
