Comox Valley RCMP is reminding drivers that the 40km/h speed reduction initiative is now in effect where signage has been installed.

The approved changes apply 24/7, year-round and the program will continue to be phased in on residential roads in the Courtney area.

The City of Courtenay has installed the 40km/h signs on roads in a 500-meter radius around schools, as well as most local roads.

The Comox Valley RCMP says it will begin conducting increased enforcement in the areas of these speed limit and traffic flow changes.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
