Death Cap Mushrooms have been found in the Town of Comox, near Filberg Park and Baybrook Park. The Town issued an alert on Monday.

Death cap mushrooms are a high health risk in urban environments, as they are extremely poisonous and closely resemble some edible mushrooms from Asia.

Eating them may lead to liver and kidney damage, or death.

The community is reminded to never eat anything you cannot positively identify as an edible species.

The alert suggests the public ensures children and pets are kept at a distance.
