The BC Salmon Farmers Association is inviting the public to a Community Appreciation BBQ in Campbell River today.

The event runs from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Robert V. Ostler Park and will raise money for the Campbell River Food Bank.

The association says the event is a chance to thank the communities where the salmon farming industry lives and works, while highlighting the sector's role in food security, economic development, and environmental stewardship.

Visitors can enjoy locally produced salmon lunches, take a virtual reality tour of a salmon farm, visit an "Ask Us Anything" booth, and check out a kids' zone and photo booth.

Cash donations are being accepted, with a suggested minimum contribution of $5 to support the Campbell River Food Bank.
