A $100,000 donation from Coastal Community Credit Union is helping bring more affordable housing to families in the Comox Valley and Campbell River.
The money was donated to Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North, and while the donation was made in 2024, the formal announcement was held back to allow time to build a video tribute and highlight the ongoing partnership.
That support is already making an impact, helping with Habitat’s multi-unit project in Courtenay and getting fundraising efforts started for a new build on Hilchey Road in Campbell River.
Coastal Community’s involvement goes beyond funding. Staff have volunteered on build sites and offered mortgage and financial literacy support to Habitat’s future homeowners.
Habitat says this kind of community commitment brings them closer to their goal of providing safe, stable housing for more local families.
The donation is part of Coastal Community’s “Sharing Our Success” initiative, which has invested more than $1.6 million into local projects across Vancouver Island.
