Cortes Island School is closed because of a power outage.
School District 72 yesterday preemptively closed Sayward School for today.
Puntledge Park Elementary will be closed today as a result of some localized damage from a tree during the storm.
SD71 says it will have more information for Ecole Puntledge Park families later on Wednesday.
Due to strong winds, a significant storm and emergency travel advisories, the decision was made to close all of NIC campuses and centres on Wednesday.
All classes, including digital, are cancelled.
An update will be provided later in the day.
Current (as of this writing) road closures of note include Highway 28, closed from Campbell River to Gold Rive because of a fallen tree.
Highway 19 was also closed to northbound traffic at Race Point Road, 11km north of Campbell River, due to a tree on the road.
The highway was already closed in both directions north of this point (from Sayward to Port McNeill) due to trees and debris.
Additionally, Highway 4 closed from Qualicum Beach to Port Alberni.
