Courtenay residents have just a little more time to weigh in on the City’s 2026 budget, with an online budget simulator accepting feedback until the end of day.
The Balancing Act budget simulator gives residents a hands-on look at how City finances work.
Users can adjust spending and revenue across different City services and immediately see how those choices impact the overall budget.
Participants are required to balance the budget, reflecting the legal requirement for B.C. municipalities to pass a balanced budget each year.
The simulator is available at courtenay.ca/budget and is designed to help residents better understand the trade-offs involved in municipal budgeting before the financial plan goes to council.
Mayor Bob Wells says the tool makes the budget process more accessible by showing how decisions in one area affect others, and by walking people through real-world choices faced by council.
Through Tuesday, feedback collected through the simulator will be used to help inform the City’s 2026 financial plan.
The City says additional budget details, reports, and updates will continue to be posted on its website as the process moves forward.
