The City of Campbell River is going after a $30,000 grant from the Union of BC Municipalities’ Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Adaptation (DRR-CA) fund.
The city is working with the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) on the grant, to facilitate a wetland education project for students.
The fund supports efforts to prepare for and mitigate the risks of disasters caused by natural and climate-related hazards.
Last week, Council supported having SRD receive and manage the funds on behalf of the City if the application is successful.
Submitting a joint application increases the City and SRD’s funding eligibility.
