The City of Campbell River is warning the public after it received reports of fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the City about unpaid parking tickets.

These messages are not legitimate.

In a post to social media, the City says it does not send parking tickets or payment requests via text message.

Parking violation notices are issued in person and placed on your vehicle.

Written reminders are sent through Canada Post.

You can pay a legitimate ticket online, or in person at City Hall.

As a reminder, don’t click suspicious links and don’t share personal or payment info via text.

You can report scam messages to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
