The summer clearing of the Ken Forde and Big Rock boat ramps begins today as the City of Campbell River gets things set for the season.
Crews will be removing sediment and debris until September, as conditions allow. Work needs to be done during low tide and is often restricted throughout the summer.
The Ken Forde Boat Ramp will be closed today and tomorrow for clearing, while Big Rock Boat Ramp will be closed from Wednesday to Friday this week for sediment and driftwood abatement, which happens twice a year.
All work will follow the memorandum of understanding that the City has with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
A biologist or environmental monitor will be present at all times, and a hydrologist will also be present during sediment removal.
