Spring may be around the corner, but it’s not here yet.
In response to lower overnight temperatures, the City of Campbell River activated its warming centre at the Campbell River Community Centre last night.
On colder nights, the warming centre is open to all for short-term stays for visitors and pets.
There are no beds but there are snacks and warm drinks, and a little space to keep personal items.
The City will notify the public on the City’s website and social media channels ahead of any additional warming centre activations.
Groups with private bookings will be contacted if the Warming Centre will affect programming.
Funding for the Warming Centre is provided by the Province through Emergency Management Climate Readiness and the City of Campbell River.
