As the festive season approaches, the City of Courtenay is making plans for the annual Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday, December 6 at the Lewis Centre.

Courtenay Recreation staff are working to create a joyful celebration filled with holiday-themed activities, cheerful entertainment, and a visit from Santa Claus.

The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and welcomes children aged 9 and under, accompanied by an adult.

“We’re looking forward to a truly magical day, complete with a special guest from the North Pole,” says Roberta Churchill, Early Years Programming and Preschool Supervisor.

“Families are encouraged to bring a camera to capture their child’s moment with Santa.”

The party will feature a festive sing-along and ukulele performance by the Evergreen Seniors, hands-on crafts, games and a chance for kids to write letters to Santa.

Guests can also stroll across the bridge to the Florence Filberg Centre, where the Gnarly Little Christmas Craft Fair will be in full swing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the upstairs Conference Room.

The fair showcases the creativity of youth aged 9 to 19, with over 60 vendors offering handmade goods including baking, artwork, crafts, fibre creations, jewellery, woodwork, and more.

Admission to both events is free with a donation of non-perishable food items for the local food bank.
