People eligible for GST rebates are getting a boost.

The credit is being doubled for six months, with those eligible receiving their payments starting early next month.

Those without children will receive up to an extra $234 and couples with two children will receive up to an extra $467 this year.

Seniors will receive an extra $225 on average.

The boost comes with the passing of a bill this week designed to support

Canadians with the rising cost of living without, the government says, adding fuel to the fire of inflation.

Another bill, still before Parliament, would enact two further affordability measures, including a Canada Dental Benefit and a one-time top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit.
