Canada Reaches A New Population Milestone

Canada will reach a new milestone on Friday.

Statistics Canada says our population will reach 40 million people today.

The Population Clock - which watches births, deaths and migration — will reach the mark just at noon pacific today.

Chief statistician Anil Arora says ‘’it’s a strong signal that Canada remains a dynamic and welcoming country, full of potential, adding it is certainly a cause for celebration, heading into Canada Day.

Canada added more than one million people last year - the most ever in a single year, and enough to continue to lead the G7 in population growth.

The next big milestone - 50-million - could be reached, according to Stats Can, by 2043.
