Canada Post says mail will start moving again Tuesday, December 17th.
On Friday, the Minister of Labour established a process with the Canada Industrial Relations Board to assess the likelihood of the parties reaching agreements by the end of 2024 with contracts to be extended to the end of May.
After a weekend of hearings, Canada Post says the two sides were at an impasse.
The union on Friday denounced the move, calling it an assault on members’ rights to free and fair collective bargaining.
Details on the start-up plans will be made available at Canada Post when finalized.
55,000 Canadian Union of Postal Workers members walked off the job on November 14th.
