The City of Campbell River is activating a warming centre at the Campbell River Community Centre in response to the continuing cold weather.
First activated Sunday night, the City went ahead and announced yesterday the centre would be activated through tomorrow morning.
It will be open again tonight from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. tomorrow, offering a place for short-term visitors to keep warm and dry.
Important information:
- The Warming Centre is open to everyone for short-term stays.
- Visitors may bring pets on leashes and belongings, including bikes and carts. Hot drinks, snacks and seating will be available. However, beds will not be provided.
- The Warming Centre will be staffed by individuals with experience working with people experiencing homelessness so that necessary support is available.
- Notification of other upcoming Warming Centre activations and operating hours will be posted on the City’s website and social media channels ahead of time.
