Campbell River Transit shortage of drivers

Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 6:43 AM

If you take BC Transit in Campbell River, be prepared for a number of trip cancellations today.

A number of routes are being affected with dozens of last minute cancellations throughout the day. BC Transit says once a trip is cancelled, alerts are issued on BC Transit’s website. Customers can sign up for these email alerts by visiting www.bctransit.com/campbell-river

Riders are also being encouraged to use NextRide, the Transit app or Google Transit to get up to the minute updates. In a release, BC Transit says while it works closely with the City of Campbell River to identify service level, fares and routing, service delivery is provided by PWTransit, and the City does not control the services provided by PWTransit. PWTransit is working to hire more drivers and say they are looking for people with strong customer service skills who enjoy interacting with the public and supporting their community. BC Transit says it understands the impact the disruptions are causing riders, and have apologized for the inconvenience.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
