About 50 school trustees from across Vancouver Island will be in Campbell River next month.
The Campbell River School District is hosting the fall meeting of the Vancouver Island School Trustees’ Association at Robron Centre October 3 and 4.
The group will collaborate on issues that matter to school districts across the region.
This year’s theme is “Journeys to Success,” and the gathering will highlight student achievement, Indigenous worldviews, and student-centered learning environments – all key focus areas in the district’s strategic plan.
The program will include featured speakers on neurodiversity and land-based learning, followed by a networking dinner and an evening panel of Indigenous leaders facilitated by the district’s new principal of Indigenous education, Anne Tenning.
The second day of the event will focus on advocacy, which SD72 says is a top priority for trustees across the region. The session will be intended to explore how districts can build a more unified and collaborative voice when calling for provincial support and funding.
