The City of Campbell River is encouraging residents to find ways to stay cool with hotter weather this week.

In a social media post, the City is resharing the locations of water fountains and cooling centres in Campbell River.

You'll find them at Tyee Spit, downtown, Willow Point Park, Frank James Park and many locations in between.

Staff are reminding residents to drink plenty of cool water, reduce strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day, seek shade whenever possible, wear sunscreen and protective clothing, and check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours, especially those living alone or without air conditioning.

A Yellow Waning was issued by Environment Canada this morning for areas like Campbell River and the Comox Valley because of expected persistent high temperatures through Wednesday, followed by a gradual cooling trend.
