The Campbell River Search and Rescue Society just got a big bump to its coffers.
Western Forest Products has donated $10,000 to the non-profit.
The Society - a group of dedicated volunteers - provides a vital lifeline to those who are lost or injured in the wilderness of northern Vancouver Island.
The CRSRS says because of technology, it is doing less actual searching and more responding to calls of help from people who can tell them where they are.
The challenge for the volunteers is to stay trained and ready for the next big search.
The group relies on money from government, service clubs, individuals, and businesses, like Western Forest Products, for training, equipment, and facility upkeep.
The bulk of this $10-thousand dollar donation will go toward reno projects, including the expansion of their hall.
