Campbell River Rugby Kicks Off New Season and Volunteers Needed

Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 8:11 AM

The 2025-26 rugby season is about to get underway in Campbell River, and the local association says they’re looking for a few more hands to help keep the club growing strong.

The Campbell River Rugby Association is calling on parents and community members to step up - whether that’s helping out on the executive, coaching, or just pitching in at practices and games. No experience is required, just a willingness to support the kids and the sport.

Right now, the biggest need is for a new President and Vice President to lead the club into the new season. Coaches and helpers are also needed for all age groups, and the association says there’s plenty of guidance and support to get newcomers comfortable.

The season itself kicks off Sunday (Sept. 7) with all practices and home games held at the We Wai Kai fields behind Quinsam Crossing. Practices run Mondays and Wednesdays, and each age group has its own schedule: Minis, that’s U6 through U10, play only on Sundays from 11 to noon. U12s practice Wednesday evenings. U14s, U16s, and U18s are on the field Mondays and Wednesdays, with extra practices on non-game Sundays. And for those looking for a lighter run-around, Touch Rugby is Wednesday evenings on the lower field.

The association says the time commitment is low - monthly meetings and a bit of time at practices - but, they add the rewards of helping build a supportive rugby community are huge.
