Residents affected by last week’s landslide on Island Highway South have been allowed to return home.

The evacuation order for the property was lifted on Saturday, however an evacuation alert remains in place in case of more slides.

A state of local emergency that was issued on Thursday remains in effect.

Under BC’s Emergency Program Act, a declared SOLE gives the City the authority to cause the evacuation of persons from the area and enter impacted areas.

A few dozen residents were forced to evacuate after the slide last Tuesday night. There were no injuries.
