The City of Campbell River has released a new information sheet providing clarification on several projects and issues currently generating discussion within the community.

The document covers six topics: the Quinsam Heights Transportation Study, plans involving Pinecrest Park, proposed development near Simms Creek, the City’s urban containment boundary, community support services and inquiries about potential data centres.

The first phase of the Quinsam Heights Transportation Study is nearing completion.

The City says its findings are expected to be presented to Council later this year.

The information sheet also provides additional details about plans for Pinecrest Park.

The proposal includes approximately 370 parking spaces intended to support the REC-REATE expansion at Strathcona Gardens.

The City says efforts are being made to minimize the impact on existing trees.

Meanwhile, a proposed development near Simms Creek has received provincial water and riparian approvals.

Approximately nine acres—or 53 per cent of the property—would be protected from development around the creek.

The developer is currently revising its plans, which will be reviewed by the City once they have been submitted.

The City is also responding to community discussion about the possibility of a data centre being developed in Campbell River.

It says no development application or formal proposal has been received.

Discussions to date have only involved preliminary inquiries about the development process.
