The Campbell River RCMP is highlighting a program that it says plays a crucial role in enhancing public safety.

Citizens on Patrol, a volunteer-based program, acts as extra eyes and ears for police officers, helping to deter crime and promote a sense of security throughout the community.

Members conduct regular vehicle patrols, report suspicious activity, and support special events.

As the program continues to grow, the detachment is calling on community members to get involved.

No policing experience is necessary, participants just need a commitment to making a positive difference.

Participants receive training and ongoing support, whether assisting with traffic watch, reporting vandalism, Child Find programs or supporting community events.

Citizens on Patrol members will be on hand at the Campbell River Spring Home Show at Strathcona Gardens from Friday through Sunday to answer questions and speak to potential volunteers.

Those interested in joining or learning more are encouraged to contact the Campbell River RCMP detachment.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
