The Campbell River Fire Department is hosting a Wildfire Community Preparedness Day event on Saturday.
It’s taking place at the #1 Fire Station (675 13th Avenue) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It’s an opportunity for members of the community to learn about ways to reduce the threat of wildfire and about Campbell River’s FireSmart program.
Residents can enjoy some BBQ lunch, and learn more about emergency preparedness and how you can make your home and community safer from wildfire.
Vancouver Island has already experienced its first wildfire of the season.
A small blaze, sparked by a burning car, was discovered Saturday near Horne Lake, south of Qualicum Beach. It was small in size and quickly listed as under control.
