A Campbell River flight school is soaring to new heights after earning national recognition.

Sealand Flight has been named Flight School of the Year for 2025 by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association - known as COPA.

The award, presented last week by COPA’s Western Vice-Chair and Regional Director for British Columbia and Yukon, Sigmund Bering Sort, recognizes Sealand’s commitment to excellence in pilot training.

This is the inaugural year for the award, which celebrates flight schools across Canada for their dedication to training the next generation of aviators.

Founded in 2014, Sealand Flight is based in Campbell River and has expanded to include four sub-base locations in Powell River, Courtenay, Qualicum Beach, and Nanaimo.

The school offers flight lessons and ground school programs toward both Private and Commercial Pilot Licences, along with additional ratings and aircraft rentals.

Beyond traditional pilot training, Sealand also provides instruction on seaplanes and e-planes and operates BC Air - offering flightseeing tours around Vancouver Island and air charter services throughout the province.
