The Campbell River Fire Department responded to a report of fire by Woods Creek in the south end of the community on Sunday.

Approximately 30 firefighters responded around 11:15am and 20 were still on the scene yesterday.

In a release, the City says the approximately 3.5-hectare wildfire was under control and was not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.

The Fire Department is working alongside BC Wildfire Service with support from the Oyster River Fire Department and Mosaic Forest Management.

The City advises the public to stay away from the area and to follow directions from the City staff and emergency services personnel on-site.

Details are available on the BC Wildfire Service website.
