Campbell River voters will have two more opportunities to hear directly from local election candidates over the next few days.

School trustee candidates will take the stage at the Tidemark Theatre on Sunday, October 4, followed by a head-to-head debate between Campbell River’s two mayoral candidates on Monday, October 5.

Nine candidates are seeking school trustee positions in Electoral Area One.

Shannon Briggs in Electoral Area Two and Jan Gladish in Electoral Area Three have been acclaimed.

The focus will shift to City Hall on Monday evening, when incumbent Mayor Kermit Dahl faces challenger Andy Speck.

Both debates are being co-hosted by the Campbell River and District Chamber of Commerce, Campbell River Mirror and Tidemark Theatre Society.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. each evening, with the debates running from 7 until 9 p.m.

Admission is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those unable to attend in person can watch the debates live through the Tidemark Theatre website.

Recordings will also be posted the following day on the Campbell River and District Chamber of Commerce YouTube channel.

Residents can submit potential questions for the candidates by emailing the Chamber of Commerce.

The debates are part of a series of events intended to help residents make informed decisions before general voting day on Saturday, October 17.
