The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society is holding a Vigil at Spirit Square this afternoon.
It’s to honor tomorrow’s National Day of Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women.
It’s been 36 years since the murder of 14 young women at École Polytechnique in Montréal, December 6th, 1989.
Community members are invited to gather for a vigil at 12pm to honor the victims & all women, children & gender diverse individuals affected by gender-based violence.
Karen Haldy will speak on the day of the massacre, where she was and will mention each victim by name.
They will lay roses and have a moment of silence followed by two speakers, Del Press and Kate Broadhead.
The event will conclude with drumming.
There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome.
